For the first time ever, I’m going to AWP! I’m so excited! I’ll be staying with a bunch of poets in a house in Kansas City, Missouri. It will be a time!
Nicelle has organized for us all (and many other poets!) to perform!
Teaching everyday encouraging my students to make their dreams come true has made me want to do the same. Ever since I was 16 years old, I wanted to write a book and publish it.
I’m hoping that attending AWP will help me to take my dream seriously this year.
I became a teacher because I wanted to share my love of writing and reading with my students. However, teaching is so much work that I have very little time or energy to write or read.
The thing is that without being able to nurture my own love of reading and writing and be in community, I have no fuel to teach. I’m hoping that AWP will refuel me, as well as help me find some people and resources to keep the flames going in Los Angeles!
I’ve been wanting to attend AWP since I was 22 and interning at Red Hen Press (who will be there!). I am finally going! And with some incredible writers, too!
