Letter #1: The Importance of Friends & Family

Dear Sister,

I love you. We love you. Family and Friends. They are the most important part of life. Be there for each other. Support each other. Communicate with each other. Friendship is being there for the good and the bad – you got to have each others backs. And be open with them.

Your group of friends is amazing, Amanda. You seem so close to them, and have been friends since forever. I always had different friends, every year a different group, a different best friend- until high school. Some people leave my life, some people come back into it, changing from major role to minor role. That’s life, that’s friendship.

Things change, people change- but there are always constants. Your family – well you can’t get rid of us. We are blood. Blood runs deep. Just make sure to appreciate your friends and let them know how important they are and how much they mean to you. Your family as well. Without them life would be lonely and scary.

But I want to write more Amanda, see I started writing this before I went to Colorado, but I’ve had some realizations to share. Amanda- you will find people you connect with, just be yourself on the outside as well on the inside, and don’t be afraid to be different. You know my favorite Dr. Seuss quote…. He changed my life.

‘Be who you are and say what you mean because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.’

Love,

Sammy
