It’s time for an update! My brain is going in a lot of different directions, and all the things are exciting but also – I am not prioritizing my health and finances, again, and thus, on the path to burn out.
I need to set some structures and boundaries. I have been meeting up with writers from the festival that I met but didn’t get to talk to at all, which has been magical. They are such awesome people! I am in awe of the people in Los Feliz and our local community.
I have also started working on PorchFest! The Los Feliz Writers festival is hosting a porch, as well as I’m doing some producing and communication strategy. It’s really fun and exciting. The festival is in November!
I’m also going to be supporting on the CSUN Book Arts Festival! I am so excited about all these things.
And on top of that, we are launching our Poet Laureate of Los Feliz Program tonight!!
And I’m in talks about an event in the Spring, as well as four film screenings all about climate activism!
Also CSUN Writing Project stuff is going really well, so many fun events coming up too that I’m helping organize! And I’m getting involved in CATE too!
And I’ll be co-hosting a book club for a teacher book for the CSUN Writing Project about climate literacy with one of the other co-directors, Xochitl!
And I’ve been attending poetry classes with Kim Dower at the WeHo Library.
And I saw another job I’m contemplating applying for – but also, I am thinking to set up my own business and attending events from the Small Business Association, which is exciting and cool.
And I’m performing at Heavy Manners on September 18th with the Writing Is Lonely community. And it’s all very exciting.
And I’ve been wanting to set up a Shut up and Write writing space in Los Feliz, and the feedback has been positive – so my orientation is on September 23rd!
And to set up a workshopping space in the living room, and the feedback is positive for that!
And I am thinking of handing over some of my work in the UK because it is nearly impossible to do remotely and requires in person experience, which is a beautiful think to recognize and accept and the limitations of remote work (or perhaps I don’t want to do it because it is too far away? and disconnected from my work?)!
The idea is to set up the communications agency – but maybe it is something else? also the idea of a hyperlocal newspaper inspired by a new friend of mine.
Connecting the dots like a very complicated puzzle. Creating infrastructure, a network, a system!
And – yet, I need to go to yoga and do my HIIT routine and rest and be human and eat and stay on my budget. My purpose and my joy and my play are all overlapping in a beautiful way – but I still gotta take care of my health and finances and housing shit.
About to go to therapy at 1pm. I don’t have anything until the meeting at 7:30pm so I can go to yoga tonight! Just booked it.
I need to structure my week and organize my time. Also planning to volunteer on the 19th and 20th at 2220 at some super cool poetry events!!
Okay all I did was write out the things I’m doing but did not create a structure. I have a good morning routine, and my evening is okay! But yeah I gotta have slots for things and then make sure I do my life stuff and health stuff.
After therapy, I’ll create this. And I really gotta go grocery shopping but I gotta eat before therapy.
I’ll bring paper and draw it out. TBA on the structure!
