BIO

Mary Huth is an Asian lesbian , comic born in Japan and based in Los Angeles. Mary misguidedly stepped away from a career in publishing with the Wall Street Journal to raise twins. She delivers perspectives on topics including politics, parenting, relationships, LGBTIQ issues, diversity and pop culture. She has performed at festivals and comedy venues throughout the country including the Asian Comedy Fest, Boulder Comedy Festival, the Hollywood Improv, the Comedy Store and Kimmel’s Comedy Club. She was recently featured in the LA Times. IG @crankymom

Q&A

LP: How would you describe your art?

I am a comedian. I think my comedy reflects the dichotomy between expectations we place on mothers and the reality many of us face. As a lesbian I also like to illustrate the parallels between queer and straight parenting experiences.

LP: When did you start performing?

4 years ago.

LP: Who are your influences?

Gary Gulman, Michelle Wolf, Joan Rivers

LP: If you were given $1,000 dollars for an art project, what would you do?

Finance a trip to a comedy festival.

LP: What do you think the function of art is in the 21st century?

To hold a mirror up to the public and show the hypocrisy of cruelty to the “other”.

LP: Why did you sign up to perform at PorchFest 2025?
