Excited to introduce you to the art of Brynnie & The Hummingbirds.

BIO
Fronted by singer/songwriter Brynn Allison, Brynnie & The Hummingbirds is a scrappy, campy daydream come to life, blending live music, theatre, sparkle, and satire. While making her debut record with Plaid Dog Recording, Brynn met Lucas Tammariello, Alec Luttrell, and Samantha June while they were teaching music together. With their unique blend of upbeat pop and thoughtful indie-folk, they offer safe and inclusive entertainment for the whole family. The Hummingbirds welcome anyone looking for something to be a part of behind the Little Red Door.
Q&A
LP: How would you describe your art?
Brynnie here! I’ve always been deeply inspired by children’s programming, musical theatre, and variety shows from the 70s; Pee Wee Herman, The Carol Burnett Show, The Cher Show. Those kinds of playful, communal performances are at the heart of what our shows feel like.
LP: When did you start performing?
Like a lot of musicians, I started out performing in my mom’s basement and doing community theatre. But when I began pursuing music professionally, I found it could feel a little lonely. That’s when I reached out to friends who’ve now become my collaborators: Samantha, Lucas, and Alec, who I met through our day jobs as music teachers. After practically begging them to come play with me, Brynnie & The Hummingbirds was born.
LP: Who are your influences?
I grew up listening to bluegrass, Carol King, Dolly Parton, and Hannah Montana. I’ve heard music in my head for as long as I can remember, and I was lucky enough to grow up around talented multi-hyphenate creatives, storytellers, musicians, theatremakers, nuns, and drag queens, who showed me from a young age I could do anything I set my mind to.
LP: If you were given $1,000 dollars for an art project, what would you do?
At our core, Brynnie & The Hummingbirds focuses on sustainability, accessibility, and queer joy, so this question is easy to answer. We would invest in our one-of-a-kind, upcycled merch pieces. With all of us being music teachers, we would work to fund recording sessions staffed by women and gender-expansive individuals working in recording and production. And, of course, the first order of business would be funding our outreach and promotional materials to help foster a safe, inclusive environment for queer folks looking for a place to belong.
LP: What do you think the function of art is in the 21st century?
We need art more than ever right now — especially in a time where AI is being forced into the creative spaces so many of us work and thrive in. Artificial intelligence has no place in music, art, or entertainment in any capacity, and only fuels isolation, environmental destruction, and the degradation of the creative spirit. It’s important for creatives everywhere to focus on channeling their humanity into their art, whatever it looks like, because that’s what will get passed down for generations to come.
LP: Why did you sign up to perform at PorchFest 2025?
We aim to perform in accessible found spaces, such as parks, libraries, museums, and historically queer third spaces. Porch shows are how I got started in the local music scene in my hometown. After being fed up with the pay-to-play system, where the only incentive bringing people out to shows is booze, Porchfest is a great opportunity for us to connect with our community!
