Hi friend!

What a time!

My life keeps changing. I’ve been calling this my ‘chaotic transition phase’. It’s been hard to focus on issues in the bigger world while trying to stabilize myself.

I read Everything is Workable: A Zen Approach to Conflict Resolution by Diane Musho Hamilton, where she said, “Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible.”

I’ve been focusing on my inner peace. I wonder what would happen if more people focused on their inner peace. Isn’t that the message of the book Let Them by Mel Robbins that went viral this year? I haven’t read it but my Grandma and Mom did, and I did listen to Youtube Video.

Stability Sammy Updates

My current project has been Stability Sammy! I’ve been rambling away with updates galore processing things and making adjustments (can read everything on the project page).

Here’s brief summaries!

Housing

I am still living with Wyatt in Los Feliz! I plan to stay there indefinitely.

Lifestyle

1. Still a member at Yoga Vibe in Los Feliz. My favorite class is 6pm to 7pm Sundays, and the Friday evening classes!

2. I launched a weekly writing group called Shut Up and Write in Los Feliz – every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm that is going well! You’re always welcome!

3. Still trying to be plant-based and mostly vegan!

4. I am still watching Midsomer Murder (since May – Season 20!!) and have discovered that I am a lover of cozy murders!!

5. Wyatt and I are discussing watching I Love LA – if anyone wants to join us!

6. Still trying to stay local in my neighborhood! Aka asking me to leave Los Feliz to go to your neighborhood is a BIG ASK and I will only do it if it is super important to you or is very convenient for me/aligns with my priorities right now – which is stabilizing my work/money situation; my health; and working on my dreams (aka publishing my writing and poetry, and sharing them in community sustainably and in a way that has a positive in the world).

7. I still am obsessed with plays and museums!! Thinking to go to the Monuments exhibit on December 5th (First Fridays are FREE!!) if anyone is keen!

Purpose and Contribution

1. I took a long-term substitute position at a high school in Mid City. My contract has been from September 29 to November 21! It has been going well. The kids say thank you! It’s a collegial environment.

2. For November and December, I am thrilled to share, I’ll be working as a seasonal bookseller at Skylight Books!

3. I officially joined the California Teachers of English Southland as the Communication Coordinator, which starts December 1st!

4. I am looking for paid work that I can do 3 days a week – currently focused on finding substitute teaching contracts (since I’m already hired!); applying to be an adjunct lecturer at community colleges; and/or doing freelance work – see Money section if interested in my services!

5. I have clarified my purpose: to improve the infrastructure of support for teachers of writing and teachers of English, while being a teacher and practitioner myself.

Relationships

Thank you for sticking with me during this turbulent time and the black hole burn out of teaching!

I am starting to work on my blook We Need Each Other: Building and Maintaining Relationships in the Twenty-First Century, and will be in touch soon!

Money

I am almost financially stable again. Currently month to month, but I’m almost there! If you wanna do something free/cheap in Los Feliz, hmu!!!

Or if you wanna hire me to do some freelance work for you for $60 an hour, let me know. Here’s some things I can do!

As I said, I have been in a very chaotic transition chapter, but things are solidifying. I created this graphic to make it pretty simple to figure out how to connect with me!

I’m hoping to stay in this chapter for while! Until I hopefully get hired to be an adjunct lecturer at a community college.
