Mission
Our mission is to celebrate, empower, and engage writers that live, work, and play in Los Feliz by maintaining 21st century community infrastructure so that humanistic values can be practiced in our neighborhood.

Los Feliz Writers Festival
We organize the Los Feliz Writers Festival where we gather the writers in our community; showcase their work in workshops and performances; and have fun writing and creating together! Check out our 2025 archive.
We are currently organizing Los Feliz Writers Festival 2026 taking place August 19-23!
We are open to event proposals and developing our planning committee and team! Check out the roles available here.
- EVENT PROPOSAL: If interested in proposing a workshop for the festival as an event facilitator, fill in the form here! Open until July 7th!
- PLANNING COMMITTEE: Our first public planning meeting will be July 8th from 8:30pm to 9:30pm at Big Bar Alcove after our Shut Up and Write in Los Feliz meeting. It’s about an 8 hour time commitment as a volunteer. Details here.
- FESTIVAL ORGANIZING TEAM: Roles to be confirmed at planning committee meeting on July 8th. Fill in this form by July 7th to be considered.
- PUBLICATION AND READING: Our community organizer Sammy is publishing a zine for the festival with the launch party and reading as part of the Festival!! The theme is Radically Human! Submissions are due July 20th! Find the deets and submission form here!!
Shut Up and Write in Los Feliz
We host weekly co-working writing groups as part of the Shut Up and Write network!
Currently, every Wednesday from 6:45pm to 8:30pm at Big Bar Alcove. Information on our meetup!
Poet Laureate of Los Feliz
Derrick Brown (term from 2025-2026) is our current Poet Laureate of Los Feliz! As part of his term, he has launched and hosted the poetry salon and open mic Joy Frequencies series at Covell; organized and hosted a Poetry Porch at PorchFest LA; and taught a poetry workshop and performed at our inaugural Los Feliz Writers Festival 2025!
